ANNOUNCEMENT: "Jokémon Black & White"

Hello.

I'm here to announce that my good friends Jose Lopez, Angel de Leon and I have decided to create a sequel to 2005's parodic doujin work "Jokémon: Drugs Version". Coming this summer: "Jokémon Black & White".

After a year's worth of discussion and many rejected ideas, we've laid a basic groundwork for this new Jokémon story. Originally the sequel was going to be a continuation of the original work called "Jokémon: Sex Version" and just two months ago I wrote some gags for an eventual story called "Jokémon FartGold & HoleSilver", but I felt it would be dated. Instead, the story is adapted from the recent "Black & White" games and it stars a new protagonist with new Jokémon in a new region. I can't say much, but it's going to be longer than the original comic and a lot more crass.

We're still ironing out details, but if I'm given the OK, I'll share some production sketches and maybe tease some of the gags. We'll make a "Japan time" out of it.

Also, please note that this will not affect the production of "Children Are Evil" and there is also another comic in the works for the publication "Candy or Medicine". I'll reveal more details on the latter comic as the time comes.

All in all, this is going to be one busy summer.

Bless,

Free Comic Book Day 2012

Today is Free Comic Book Day. Go to your local comic shop and pick up some free books. And while you're at it, actually buy some. A good comic shop is rare nowadays, so do take care of them with your patronage.

PS: Go read CAE. It's free, too.

MomoCon 2012

I'd have written this post on Friday but stuff came up so here I am writing a late convention report on MomoCon 2012. (March 16-18)

This year, MomoCon went through a lot of changes: it now covers Fri, Sat and Sun; it is now a paid convention; the new venue is at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, the same venue as Dragon*Con, an annual SF convention held every September.

Like the past 3 years, I only went on Saturday and Sunday. It was a neat trip, but also felt underwhelming and short compared to last year's madness. While it was more organized, there's a sharp drop in activity. It's not hard to see why: it's now a paid con, so there's less kids to run around, and another convention happened about two blocks away, Furry Weekend Atlanta, so there was a bit of a furry invasion.

I did hang out with friends, get a lot of StreetPass hits, finally found the remaining volumes of Dr. Slump (save for volume 9, but that was soon remedied thanks to John B.), I tried out Guinness on tap (so good), and I got to meet Ellen McLain, voice of GLaDOS from Valve's hit game "Portal". Sadly, my favorite artists weren't around at the artist's alley this year, and the place was crawling with Homestuck cosplayers, bronies, and to a lesser (and a lot more tolerable) extent, Touhou fanatics. Also, con food is just unnecessarily expensive. :/

Due to the limited activity, I took less photos than the previous years, but they should still be of decent quality. There were a lot of repeat cosplayers from the previous years--part of me wonders why I never try to befriend them.

I hope you all enjoy the pictures.

The Pure-Love Knights of Justice

Like with "Afro Surfer", I'm posting another unpublished comic I've drawn in 2008. This time, however, is a lampoon of shonen manga called "The Pure-Love Knights of Justice". Reading it again, I think I might use Hank in a future story with his new look in the end. I hope you enjoy:
